SciSpace is an AI-powered research agent built to automate common scholarly workflows: literature review, manuscript drafting, paper comprehension, data extraction, and research communication. It targets academics, students, and professional research teams across disciplines, with a dedicated biomedical agent for complex biology and medicine tasks.

You start by writing a research task in natural language or choosing from prebuilt templates (for example, a PRISMA-ready systematic review, a manuscript draft, or a patent search). The agent then combines multiple AI models, tools, and data sources—including major scholarly indexes like PubMed, Google Scholar, arXiv, Grants.gov, and ClinicalTrials.gov—plus your uploaded files to complete the workflow. Outputs can be generated as Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, LaTeX manuscripts or posters, PDF reports, websites, infographics, and data visualizations.

SciSpace runs in the browser with sign-up-based access and offers a Basic free tier alongside paid Premium, Advanced, Teams, and Enterprise plans. According to their site, there are also an iOS app, a Chrome extension, and a way to use SciSpace via a ChatGPT integration, so you can bring the agent into your existing reading and writing environments.

SciSpace is notably more agentic than a simple research chatbot: you define an outcome, and it autonomously chains together searches, document analysis, and writing steps using 150+ tools and a large corpus of papers (they cite access to 280M+ papers). Popular workflows like systematic literature reviews, poster generation, and website creation are available as one-click tasks, and higher-tier plans add access to a "Deep Review" model for more advanced literature synthesis.

That said, much of the experience is template- and credit-based. The free Basic plan is heavily limited (only one parallel task, no exports, and restricted use of many tools), so serious or frequent use will likely require at least the Premium tier. The documentation shown does not specify exactly which underlying AI models are used or how user data and uploaded PDFs are stored and protected, so you should review their full privacy and security policies—especially if you work with sensitive or proprietary material. SciSpace is optimized for scientific and scholarly research; it is not a general-purpose personal assistant or a no-limits data analysis platform for arbitrary business data. If your work is unrelated to research literature, or you need deep custom integrations into non-research enterprise systems, this may not be the right fit.
